Day 10 of 30 | Tumblr Challenge: A photo of you taken over ten years ago
This was obviously taken more than ten years ago — try twenty years ago. Taken when I was about 6 or so, it’s quite obvious that my Mom was a total hottie back in the day. Love my Mom to pieces.
| Me: | Gramps, this movie has John Travolta. You know that, right? |
| Grandpa: | Yes, he's a good dancer. |
| Me: | Mhmm. This is when he was young. |
| Grandpa: | When he was a gentleman. |
| Me: | Oh, Lolo. |
My Mom & I had a date today. We had dinner, went shopping and just talked. She bought me a super sweet light sweater, perfect for summer days when it’s not too cold and not too warm. Everything reminded me of why I love my Mom so much — not because of the food, or the shopping, but the time we spend together.
It’s days like today that make me think of some of the good (if not best!) days in my life. Some of the best days that I’ve had in my life involved the people I love, lots of laughter and smiling consistently. Some were never planned. Some were planned to the last detail. Some just happened naturally. Then again, aren’t those the times that happen to make the day even more special?
@2 years agoThese two have been by my side since I was born. Our Mom’s are sisters (their Mom is older than my Mom, but they’re like best friends), so it was only natural that since I never had sisters, I would have these two as my cousins (along with my other cousin, Jax) to be the closest thing to having one — or three. They have been my constant ladies in my life who I can always go to, and the same way for them towards me. I have been so thankful & appreciative for having them be there and be one of the reasons why I come back home to Winnipeg. Love them!
Excuse me for my absence.
Life takes a backseat when my family is in town because it feels like I’m on the vacation, too, especially being able to go to amazing places and restaurants. I love being able to have conversations with my Sissy late at night, laughing about random things and seeing things I’ve never seen before. Not to mention sharing all this with my husband — I definitely feel so thankful & blessed.
@2 years agoDay 9 of 30 | Tumblr Challenge: A photo you took
My Godson with my husband (his Uncle + Godfather) going home from the Waterfront last month. It’s a recent photo of these two, and I love it because they’re both genuinely happy — plus, the look on my Godson’s face is just adorable.
My Mom’s side of the family, back in the early 1960’s.
One day, when I’m back in the Philippines, I’m going to get a replica copy of this photo that my Aunt took when she went back earlier this year, and make copies for my cousins & the rest of my family. My grandparents are so young in this photo, about 27-28 respectively, and my Mom is the one beside my grandmother. They used to live in the smallest hut, with a total of twelve people all together. Things, of course, changed and now they have one of the biggest houses in the block where they live. These are some of where my roots have come from, and they will never, ever leave my heart — I will forever take them with me, no matter where I travel in this world.
| H: | Are you going to cut your hair? |
| J: | I'm thinking about going in for a trim so it'll grow faster |
| H: | No, don't. It's just going through an ugly stage right now. It'll get longer. |
| J: | So, you're telling me my hair is ugly? |
| H: | No, it's just on it's way to looking prettier. |
I’m thankful for what I have been able to go through. When a good friend commented on how beautiful, intimate and sweet our wedding was, I couldn’t help but feel content knowing that the day was definitely felt like that. Although I would have loved to have invited EVERYONE I knew, the truth of the matter was that everyone who was there gave their full support & love to Mark and I’s union from the beginning — and that’s who I wanted to surround myself with. I’m truly blessed for having such an amazing family, good friends and such an incredible husband who, through everything we’ve been through, continues to love me and cherish me more and more everyday.
